At Wakesurf Tampa, we pride ourselves in having the best of the best crew members on board your boat to help make your experience the best it can be. Each of our crew members are highly trained and qualified, having a combined 10,000+ hours of experience. Whether you’re a first time surfer, or an experienced rider, our crew has something to offer you. And the best part about each of us here at Wakesurf Tampa? Frank

Founder/Co-Owner

Hometown: Richmond, VA

Fun Fact: Frank had never been on a boat until he moved to Florida when he was 16.

Favorite Trick: Air on a foil

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Trying out new local restaurants

Bio: Frank grew up in rural Virginia, just outside of Richmond. He spent most of his time riding dirt bikes as a kid, competing nationally. When he was 16, his family moved to Westchase. A few years later, his family moved to Lake Tarpon. This is where his passion for boating began! After spending many hours on the lake with friends, teaching them how to wakeboard and wake surf, he realized how lucrative the market was and started brainstorming ways he could share his passion with others. This is where the idea for Wakesurf Tampa was born.

Spence

Vice President of Operations/Co-Owner

Hometown: North Manchester, Indiana

Years with Wakesurf Tampa: 2 years

Fun Fact: During his time in college, Spence founded the Wakesports Club at the University of Alabama.

Favorite Trick: 360 Shuv It

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Tennis & Pickleball

Bio: Spence grew up spending his summers on Lake Wawasee in Northern Indiana. At the age of 7, he began wakeboarding. At age 13, Spence learned to wake surf, and quickly grew attached to it. Since his humble beginnings, Spence has shared his passion for wakesports with 1,000+ others, teaching them to wakeboard and/or wake surf. When he’s not on the boat, you can find him hanging out with friends or catching up with his family.

Adriane

Instructor

Hometown: East Berlin, PA

Years with Wakesurf Tampa: 2 years

Fun Fact: Adriane has hand painted every wakesurf board she has owned.

Favorite Trick: Air to 360 combo

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Traveling

Bio: Adriane has been wakesurfing for 15 years. In 2016, she competed in her first wakesurfing event, and ultimately qualified for World Championships. She went on to compete for 4 years, qualifying for worlds every year and finally finishing 3rd in the world in Master Women’s Surf in 2019 after which she opted to retire. Since then, Adriane has been very active in the wakesurfing community, sharing the surf stoke with organizations like SheShredsCo, Land Locked Surfing and repping her custom board handcrafted by Shortbus Board Company of Cape Hatteras, NC. Joining the crew at Wakesurf Tampa has allowed Adriane to continue sharing the love of wakesurfing since moving to Florida in 2022. When she isn’t doing something related to the water, Adriane loves acrylic painting, home renovating, gardening, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Austin

Instructor & Staff Photographer

Hometown: Clearwater, Florida

Years with Wakesurf Tampa: 4 years

Fun Fact: Austin has played the Drums and guitar for 18 years.

Favorite Trick: Alley-Oop

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Photography

Bio: Austin grew up spending a lot of his time with family at Honeymoon Island in Dunedin Florida. After seeing his older brother get into skimboarding, he was hooked. Austin would then spend most of his teen years at the beach with his friends, skimming as much as possible. His first time wakesurfing behind a proper wake boat was in 2018, and he hasn’t looked back since. If Austin isn’t behind the boat working on new tricks, you can usually find him nearby, photographing everyone having a blast while they surf! 

brett

Captain/Instructor

Hometown: Dallas, TX

Years with Wakesurf Tampa: 1 year

Fun Fact: Brett is a semi-professional cable park rider.

Favorite Trick: Tantrum to blind

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Skimboarding, shark diving, and skateboarding

Bio: Brett started water sports at age 13. He learned to wakeboard behind the boat, and then transitioned to cable parks where he competes at the collegiate and Professional Level in the WWA.  His aspirations are to win a national wakeboard title in the next few years and maybe even a world title one day. He hopes to spread the stoke for water sports to anybody who’s willing to get out on the water and learn something new!

Hometown: McHenry, Illinois

Years with Wakesurf Tampa: 1 year

Fun Fact: Brin learned how to surf over 10 years ago and has taught hundreds of people since!

Favorite Trick: 360 🌀

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Yoga

Bio: Brin grew up in a small lake town right outside Chicago. Her journey in the boating industry began at the age of 15, while she worked at marinas until she moved to Florida for college in 2020. Her passion was originally sparked when she was introduced to surfing at the age of 10 and continues to this day! What began as a family hobby, gradually became a lifelong love.

Alex

Instructor

Hometown: Eastlake, FL

Fun Fact: Alex has been skateboarding for 12 years.

Favorite Trick: 360

Favorite Non-Boating Hobby: Skateboarding

Bio: Growing up, Alex spent his summers in Michigan waterskiing and wakeboarding. After moving to Florida in 2014, he discovered his love for wake surfing after learning behind his friend’s boat. When he isn’t behind the boat wakeboarding or surfing, you can find him at the skate park learning new tricks!
